Are you in or out? The train is leaving…

Alright Cavs fans, I think its time we had a talk.  The Cavs have just recorded their first month over .500 in 3 years.  I said 3 YEARS!!!!!  This is a team full of guys that WANT to play for Cleveland.  Marreese Speights actually waived his no trade clause in his contract, so that he could come to Cleveland.

“I love Cleveland, I love these fans and I love playing with these kids, these players.”
-Marreese Speights

Chris Grant is easily one of the best GM’s in the league and he has more than proved that this season.  The trade of the year has to go to the Cavs.  Chris Grant found a team that was ready to make a salary dump and basically gave them nothing in return.  We turned Jon Leuer into Marreese Speights, Wayne Ellington, Josh Selby and a first round draft pick.  That ladies and gentlemen is what we call a steal.  It’s a win-win for the Cavs.  They get a chance to see if these young veterans can help them win.  If not, they can dump them all in two years and have a massive amount of cap space.  Grant has a knack for getting teams to give up first round picks.  He turned Mo Williams and Jamrio Moon into Baron Davis and a first round pick (Kyrie Irving).  G Money flipped Ramon Sessions into Luke Walton and a first round pick (Tyler Zeller).  Walton is really starting to find a solid role with the Cavs and has proven to be a reliable player.  Despite trading Hickson for the worthless Casspi, Grant somehow got Sacramento to throw in a future first round pick to give the Cavs the edge in that deal.  Despite getting two quality vets, he worked his magic again and got Memphis to throw in a first round pick for the upcoming draft.  This year will be the third draft in a row that the Cavs have had two first round picks.  You have to like the moves that Chris Grant has pulled off in the last 3 years.  He doesn’t get the press, but he is easily one of the best GM’s in the league.

Shaun Livingston has to also be one of the best in season signings this year.  He is a 6’9″ point guard.  Translation…HE’S HUGE!  The guy just always makes the right play.  Before the season, I wrote a preview of the point guard position for the Cavs and how despite carrying 4 point guards, we had no good option for a backup point guard.  Shaun Livingston has honestly made me forget about Kyrie Irving during these last two games  (Kyrie has missed the last two games due to a leg injury).  He can pass, drive, handle the ball, and dunk like a big man.  There is no such thing as a mismatch when it comes to Shaun Livingston.  You can afford to switch on pick and rolls with him because he can hold his own in the paint against most big men due to his size.

Ready to admit that Dion Waiters was a great pick?  He is the only rookie this year to have back-to-back-to-back games of 24+ points.  He won’t win rookie of the year, but you have to admit that he was a much better pick than MKD and Beal.  Since the break, Dion is shooting over 57% from the field.  He has found his game and has become the go to player when Kyrie is out.  Hats off to Chris Grant for sticking to his guns and believing in this kid.

If my previous points don’t get you excited, then you have to at least love the play of Kyrie Irving.  Kyrie, aka Mr. 4th  Quarter, is 4th in the league in 4th quarter scoring.  By the way, Lebron is absent in that category.  Uncle Drew has closed out more wins in the final seconds of the 4th quarter in his short career than Lebron ever did in his seven seasons with the Cavs.  Jon Barry gave Kyrie a nickname during the ESPN telecast of the Cavs-Hornets game last week.  He called him “The Show”.  I can’t think of a more fitting name.  I know I am bias, but his ball handling skills and his shooting ability make him the most dangerous point guard in the league.  No player in the NBA wants to get stuck in an iso against Kyrie.  Just ask Brandon Knight…..

Stop with the Lebron nonsense.  I will never forgive him for what he did.  Don’t wait for him to come back to start rooting for the Cavs again.  Believe in these guys.  They want to be here and they want to make Cleveland proud.  Next season has already begun.  Whatever momentum we build this year will carry over into next year.  I have said it before, this team may be young and naive, but they aren’t afraid of anyone.  They truly believe that they can beat anyone on any given night.  So come join us on this ride and don’t get left behind.
